Worth Knowing about the landing ships.
 

The landing crafts were commissioned to the Navy of the Federal Republic of Germany on 5th September 1958 in Charleston, USA. The Federal Republic of Germany had bought the ships from the US-Navy stocks which were set aside since the end of the second world war for about six million US Dollar. It concerned the following:
